1,615 Cadres Of NDFB Lay Down Arms At Surrender Ceremony In Guwahati

After signing the Bodo Peace Accord, a total of 1,615 cadres of different factions of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) on Thursday laid down their arms at a ceremony held in Guwahati.


The cadres of all four fractions of NDFB – NDFB (Dhiren Bodo), NDFB (Progressive), NDFB (Ranjan Daimary) and NADFB (S) had laid down their arms before Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the arms lay down ceremony held at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) auditorium on Thursday.

Speaking on this occasion, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the arms laying ceremony proved that NDFB wants permanent peace in the state.

CM Sonowal said that the Assam government would ensure that all the cadres of the outfit could live a dignified life and appealed them to contribute to make the state stronger.

CM Sonowal also thanked Prime Minister and Home Minister for the treaty.
Meanwhile, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced to formulate a comprehensive rehabilitation policy for the surrendered militants. He also appealed ULFA(I) Chief Paresh Baruah to join in the peace process.
