Facebook Alert Saved A Guwahati Woman From Committing Suicide
Assam police on Tuesday saved a woman from committing suicide at her residence after being alerted by Facebook.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the cybercrime cell of Kolkata police received an e-mail from Facebook office, USA that a female Facebook user had uploaded a video on her Facebook profile, in which she expressed her plan to commit suicide.
The Facebook authorities also provided the access logs, registered phone number and that she belongs to Guwahati.
Based on the information, an enquiry was initiated and the woman was identified to be a resident of Changsari area.
Kolkata police then informed the Changsari police station where the local police team immediately rushed to the spot and rescued the woman.
The woman was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment, where her condition was said to be stable.
According to police, the woman was suffering from mental trauma because of some personal issue. Police also said that they are investigating the exact reason of her depression.
