Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Assam on February 7 to attend a public rally at Kokrajhar organized to celebrate the Bodo peace accord recently signed between the centre, state, and nine Bodo organizations, including four factions of NDFB.
“GoA has invited Hon PM Sri @narendramodi for his gracious presence at the celebrations for #BodoPeaceAccord at #Kokrajhar on February 7, 2020”, Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.
Himata Biswa Sarma who inspected the venue at Dotoma at Kokrajhar, said, “The PM’s visit here on February 7 is confirmed.”
Earlier, PM’s scheduled visit to Assam along with Japan PM Shinzo Abe, for the annual bilateral summit on December 15 and 16 was postponed after anti-CAA protests turned violent in the state.
Modi was also invited by the state government to declare open the ”Khelo India Youth Games” in Guwahati on January 10, but the visit did not materialise.
All Assam Students Union (AASU) had also warned of mass protests if Modi came here for the games.
